The Director of Finance position required an experienced leader to manage the full financial operations of a national charity and to shape its long-term financial strategy. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this role carried responsibility not only for financial planning and reporting but also for governance, risk management and compliance at board level.

Core responsibilities
The role covered strategic and operational financial planning, overseeing the annual audit, leading risk management policies, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. It also required close collaboration with the Board of Trustees, providing clear financial insight to support decision-making, and leading the finance team to improve processes and build capacity across the organisation.

Skills and experience required
The charity was seeking a qualified accountant with significant experience at executive level. Strong governance knowledge and board-facing experience were essential, as was the ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead improvements to financial processes. Experience of the charity or non-profit sector was highly desirable.
